Always
“
You were the air that filled my soul Whenever I would draw a breath The echo of my every thought Goddess of endless nightly depth
You were the light behind the Sun Source of his flaming cry of red To shield our fragile hearts from you He burns forever in our stead.
You left and drowned my empty soul The black filled up my chest Cold ghosts now haunt my tortured mind Each night a death, at best.
The sun froze first that final night My heart was next to die The gears of time ground to a halt Hope, pale as fallen snow, Whispered “Goodbye”.
A thousand years I sought for you Inside your dark and empty heart But now my breath is slowing and I fear I must depart.”
Thus whispered softly the old man Eyes full of fallen flakes of snow His fist squeezed hard the blade of glass And then let go.
A thousand miles behind black walls She heard the wind whisper his name A quick thought back to fields of gold And then the pain.
